Rodrigo jokes

My oldest cousin Rodrigo is known for his dry sense of humor. Some of the things he said (about my mom) on the trip down from the airport:
"Amparo has planned out your visit to Colombia tighter than a Colombia visit by George W. Bush."
"Amparo said, ´They are going to be very tired when they arrive so each of you can talk to them for no more than 10.5 minutes each´"

That´s why they call it a welcome party

The Medellin airport won´t win any "customer satisfaction" survey awards. The Immigration guy gave Luis grief about not having a Colombian passport and becoming an American citizen.
The hassles were pretty much forgotten when we made it outside and there were about 10 friends and family cheering: Rodrigo, Laurita, Lucia, Jorge, Amparo Puerta, Sofia, Pacho, Mom, & Dad.

"American Airlines is chasing Medellin passenger Chris Huber"

Some of the jokes at and by Chris regarding his "enthusiasm" about the trip:
Nora says, "I am going down the jetway last in case Chris makes a run for it."
Flight attendant announcement, "We have now closed the cabin doors. Please discontinue all Chris Huber jokes."
Chris says, "Not so fast, we are awfully close to the exit rows. Luby we can open them, hit the slides and make a run for it across the tarmac."
Luby says, "Follow me. Follow me to freedom!"

American Airlines - not a smart as we thought.

Good thing they check the passports so carefully... Luella and I had booked an aisle and window in the hopes of getting an empty seat between us. After checking in, showing our Passports, and getting our tickets, we checked the tickets and saw seats 20A & 20B. We thought, "Wow. American Airlines must be wise to the old aisle and window trick." Well not so fast, Luella looked closer and found out that they had checked us in as Luis Vasquez and Nora Vasquez (who had snagged the middle seat along with 20 DEF.) Meanwhile, Nora couldn't check in because she had already checked in. Fortunately, Luby made it back to the them and help fix the problem.

Get me to the airport on time

After a very short night of sleep for all (3.5 hours for Luis, 4 hours for Luby, 4 hours for Nora), everyone made it to the airport two hours before our international departure. No small feat for the Hubers and Vasquez families.
